"How do I do that exactly?"

GET TO KNOW THE YOGA POSES... & YOUR BODY!

This 4 hour workshop delves into a variety of commonly practiced poses, offering understanding of movement, intentions, & personal adjustments and modifications for each participant.

Are you new to yoga and unfamiliar with yoga poses? Are you uncertain of what shape your body is working towards when you practice? Perhaps you find it difficult to position your body, and it just doesn't seem to move where your want it to!

​Spend some time with Lisa who has a degree in Sport Science (Ex. Sci) and has been teaching movement for the last 37 years. Understand the principles of movement involved in poses and how to access them in your body for effective and safe practice (regardless of how inflexible you may be or how much experience you do or don't have). Learn how to move effectively in your body and enhance your asana practice with a greater depth of understanding.

THERE'S THOUSANDS OF QUESTIONS YOU MIGHT BE ASKING YOURSELF DURING A YOGA CLASS, LIKE....
​Why am I "dorsi flexing" my feet?  Why do my hands slip in Downward Facing Dog? Why does Downward Facing Dog feel so awkward? How do I lift my sit bones, and how far to I lift them? What's the purpose of standing with my feet parallel? Why am I rotating my elbows to the back of the room?  Why am I dropping my shoulder blades down my spine? What good is bending my knees when I stretch, isn't that counter-intuitive?  What difference does it make which way my pelvis tilts?

​Remember, each instruction given by a yoga teacher comes with a specific intention (which may or may not apply to you and your body!) When you understand the intention and application of the instructions in relation to your own body, you can practice in an informed way and make the poses your own.

This workshop is for anyone who is keen to learn how to enhance their execution and understanding of commonly practiced, foundational poses of yoga. There will be both theory and practice - a time for exploration of each pose and a time for rest and digesting information. And just in case you are wondering, there will be no 'advanced' pretzel moves ...just the delivery of a solid base from which you can build.
